Voter Registration Drive

MU SPSEA held a voter registration drive this year to encourage students to vote in local and presidential elections. During the voter registration executive board members for MU SPSEA walked students through how to register to vote.

Campaign Phone Banks

During September and October 2016, MU SPSEA held​ various campaign phone banks. During these phone banks, MU SPSEA members called people in the community and informed them on what candidates PSEA endorsed for the upcoming November election.MU SPSEA members we educated about the candidates before calling members of the community.

Faculty Strike Walkout

In October 2016 there was a strike by the Association of Pennsylvania State College and University Faculties (APSCUF). â€‹MU SPSEA participated in the strike by making signs and walking to support the faculty in the PASSHE System.

Presidential Debate

Members of the MU SPSEA gathered together to watch the third presidential debate. Before the debate, members talked about what the presidential candidates talked about at the previous two debates. Then the members watched the last debate and discussed it when it was over. This served to educated members further on the two presidential candidates.

Petition Against School to Prison Pipeline

The National Education Association (NEA) is supporting a petition to "Shut down the School to Prison Pipeline". The Millersville University SPSEA chose to support this petition and encourage MU SPSEA members to sign the petition. The organization also encouraged others to sign and support the movement to end the school to prison pipeline.

Katie McGinty Rally in Philadelphia 

In September, Katie McGinty held a rally in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. Some of the MU SPSEA members were able to attend this rally. They learned about Kaite McGinty's stance on political issues and hot topics. They were able to bring this knowledge back to the the rest of the MU SPSEA members to educate them as well.

Election Day

One election day, MU SPSEA went out to participate in voting for this years election. Additionally, the organization also had fun activities for students to participate in after they voted. Some of these activities included a food truck, carnival games, and moon bounces.

Facebook Page

Millersville University SPSEA is currently working on an overhaul of their Facebook page. They are working on finding educational topics or issues that our organization supports or wants to advocate for. While we are aligning our views currently, we wanted to note we are focusing on our political action social media presence.
